Getting physical
Game 2 the Western Conference Finals, Spurs vs OKC, was an absolute mess to watch.
This, on the back of my favorite game in years, OKC vs Spurs game 1, was a real kick in the pants.
Yes, I've heard all the conspiracy theories, I've followed all the Reddit posts—but at the end of the day it's the Thunder's job to win in anyway they can, and it's on the officiating to do better and stop some of this absolutely horrendous fouling.
Isaiah Hartenstein played the game he was supposed to play. He held Wemby, locked him down, and made him ineffective. That's fine. I admire that.
But the refs, in absolute contrast to a near perfect officiating the game before, failed to do their job.
See, I'm a recovering Kings fan. My brother and I watched back in the 2002-2004 days. I've seen officiating played the wrong way, I've seen it all go to hell.
My brother and I, along with our now families, will be gathering to watch game 3 tonight, and I'm hopeful that the officiating will be played fairly, and give both teams a chance to just play amazing basketball. That's what I loved about game 1, it came down to the wire, it could have gone either way, and both teams played their hearts out. Come on NBA, let's do better.
